We are celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary this year. Instead of Europe, Dave wanted to go somewhere unusual and exciting. It is a big anniversary after all. So, we are on our way to the island of Borneo, more specifically the two Malaysian states of Sabah and Sarawak.
But, because you can’t get there from here, we are stopping off for a few days in Singapore!
Here we are killing time at the airport lounge.

Singapore is a sovereign island country and city-state at the south end of the Malay peninsula, separated from the mainland by the Johor Strait. Singapore is made up of the one main island plus about 63 smaller satellite islands. It is said to be one of the most expensive cities in the world – also the cleanest, best planned and most entertaining!
The majority of Singapore’s population are Peranakan, or straits Chinese, descendants of the first wave of southern Chinese to settle in maritime Southeast Asia between the 14th -17th C.
Mandarin, English, Malay and Tamil are the four official languages.
We only have two days to explore Singapore so we are going to hit the ground running! We are just north of the equator (1° latitude) so we expect to be hot! The weather forecast is 32° with 88% humidity. Expect a few sweaty looking tourist shots of us as we explore.
