Today we took a lovely (but wet) hike in Cahuita National Park. Ocean on three sides of the forested peninsula creates a unique microclimate favoured by many types of wildlife.

In the south end of the park, we meandered through wet swamp on an elevated boardwalk.

Parrot snake
He was wary of us, and we weren’t sure if he is venomous or not (turns out he is, but only mildly!)
Wild red bananas
Beautiful bromeliads everywhere

The trail on the south side of the park parallels the beach.

Despite all these crocodile signs, there were a fair number of people swimming today.

We watched a family of Howler monkeys scamper through the trees.

Lunch was at the funky Tasty Waves.

The tacos were so good we forgot to take a photo.
GF beer was surprisingly tasty.

Then we purchased some more local chocolate bars at Caribeans.

Our last dinner in Puerto Viejo was at a fancy Italian place with tables in the sand.

Tomorrow we will try to do one more tour before heading back to San Jose, but again, the weather may decide for us.
