Day 1 – Whistler and Blackcomb
First day up was a trip to do the Peak 2 Peak Gondola. Pricey indeed but on day like Saturday when the sun is out, amazing. At the top of the gondola we hiked a bit down the hill to the bottom of the Peak chair. You can see the base in the above photo. From the top the views were amazing, Tantalus, Black Tusk, Blackcomb.
Us on the chair up:
I used to love to ski this – Shale Slope:
At the top, like I said, wow!
Black Tusk from the Peak of Whistler.
Mount Sproatt across the valley.
Lots of folks at the top but still good good family pics.
After that we zipped over on the Peak2Peak to Blackcomb. Nice ride in the sun. Got to see a black bear in the woods below us.
Jersey Cream – another favourite of ours to ski
Still snow here.
A nice Alpine Loop hike of 1.6km
The next day was Joffre Lakes.
A *lot* of work but totally worth it. 10KM to the third lake. 5 km up then 5km back. Hard roots, wet mud, rock etc. Not a stroll in the park by any stretch. But hey, nothing this beautiful is easy.
First lake:
The trail. Yes the trail is there. The boys are standing on it!
But finally the second lake.
On the way up to the 3rd lake the falls are awesome to get up close to.

And finally the reward – glacier and lake
