Our youngest son, Eric has a job in Quebec as a teaching assistant in an elementary school for the next 9 months. We are taking him there to help set up his apartment and will then stay to do a tour of La Belle Province. Quebec is Canada’s largest province by area so we will only have the chance to see a small section. We have been practicing our French on DuoLingo for the past two months, so I hope it helps!

It was late afternoon when we landed in Montreal. The guy we rented our car from met us outside of arrivals, and we made the 2+ hour drive to Shawinigan, with a quick stop for dinner in Trois Rivières.

Eric’s apartment is in a mostly residential neighborhood on a peninsula sticking into the Riviere St-Maurice.

We spent 3 long days unpacking, organizing and shopping for him to be fully ready for work. We’ve never shopped so much in our lives!
The electric in this older building is frustrating, involving many power bars and extension cords to plug everything in. And we caused a bit of a leak into the first floor apartment when we hooked up the new washing machine. But the landlady, her two sons and granddaughter are lovely people and will take care of Eric in our absence.

Eric will have three days of orientation/training in Quebec City so we will drive him there and drop him off at his hotel before starting our Quebec tour.
