We bid au revoir to New Brunswick this morning and drove back across the Gaspe Peninsula for one more stop at Bic National Park.

We stopped for a quick pub lunch in Amqui where Kris got to sample the local microbrews.

The Auberge du Mange Grenouille in Le Bic is a large B&B in a former general store.

Our third floor suite has an amazing view of the St Lawrence River.

Bic National Park sits on the north coast of the Gaspe Peninsula and encompasses hundreds of tiny little islands.  The park is made up of three main headlands, said to look like an anvil.

At Pointe aux Epinettes viewpoint we could see several of those islands.

Lots of stairs up to the Pointe aux Epinettes (Spruce’s Point)
Some of the Iles du Bic are accessible at low tide

We did several short hikes in Bic. Sentier Les Anses took us down the tambolo (sandspit) between the east and west sides of Anse aux Bouleaux.

There were lots of seals hanging out on the beach.

Chemin du Nord was alongside the beach to Cap l’Orignal.

Lunch was picnic style outside the Rioux farm, a restored barn that now acts as the visitor center in the middle of the park.

Dinner was back at our hotel, where we chose a French wine called Gar Gamel. Anyone who may have watched The Smurfs in their youth might find that amusing.
